What Is an Informational Interview
An informational interview is a 20-30 minute conversation in which you learn about someone’s career path. It is not a job interview, and you should not ask for a job. Done well, it is the single most useful activity for figuring out what you actually want. See UCR’s Professional Narrative & Networking handout as a companion piece. Also check out Informational Interviewing and Ten Questions to Ask in Informational Interviews on LinkedIn Learning.
