Responsibilities/Restrictions - Letters of Reference File fees are good for one full year of service from the date the file is established and may be renewed annually.
- All fees must be paid at the time the service is requested. There is a standard fee for each first class mailing and additional fees for overnight mail or other special handling. (See Eligibility and Fees schedule for current rates.)
- Files may contain a maximum of 12 pages for the standard fee. Additional pages will be charged at a standard rate per page per mailing.
- Files contain reference letters only. Any other supporting materials must be brought to the Letters of Reference office by the candidate. Additional charges will apply.
- Files may not be hand-carried by the candidate.
- The candidate bears full responsibility for requesting file mailings in sufficient time to meet deadlines. The equivalent of five working days must be allowed for any request. Mailing requests are submitted only for immediate action. Requests with the stipulation to "hold until..." will not be accepted.
- It is the candidate's responsibility to know which authors have submitted letters to the file as well as the intent or purpose of each letter. In the case of multiple letters from one author, the candidate is responsible for specifying which letters/forms will be included in a mailing.
- The Career Center staff shall not review letters for the purpose of rank-ordering or otherwise selecting certain letters over others on the candidate's behalf.
- The contents of the Letters of Reference File remain the property of the University of California.
- All letters handled by the Letters of Reference file service at UCR are confidential student information. By using this service, you agree to waive your rights to access to any letters or information contained therein.
Attempts to circumvent this waiver by obtaining access through misrepresentation or fraudulent means will result in your file being closed and letters returned to recommenders with an explanation of the reason for return. Students currently enrolled at UCR will be subject to review by Student Judicial Affairs. |
