Use the Career Center

One of the center's main objectives is to help you find gratifying employment. It has a wide array of resources, and its Career Counselors are experts in the job search process. Take advantage of all of this! Use the Career Center as your base of operation.

Utilizing the Career Center puts you on a mailing list to receive occasional information about events and job opportunities. It allows you to access the SCOTLink job listings where hundreds of jobs and internships are posted.

The Career Center Resource Room has an extensive collection of career literature, numerous employer brochures and directories of potential employers in many fields.

The On-Campus Interview Program brings employers to campus each year to recruit students for career positions and internships.

The Resume File: Submit your resume on-line through SCOTLink. Your resume can be forwarded to specified employers and will remain on file for future use.

Career Fairs: Throughout each year, several career fairs and other major career events are held for UCR students. These include Career Night, Engineering and Technical Career Fair, Meet the Firms, Teacher Job Fair, and the Last Chance Summer Job Fair. Attend those events that are appropriate to your career area. Dress professionally and bring copies of your resume to distribute. Interview the various representatives for information on opportunities, pick up business cards and literature. Follow up as advised by the representatives. Many people land jobs each year as a result of initial contacts made at these events. Look for information on other career fairs in Southern California advertised in area newspapers and at the Career Center.
